Research Overview

We focus on three key areas to better understand and modulate the enzymology driving natural product biosynthesis:

1) Discovery and biosynthesis of novel bioactive natural products from Actinobacteria and other phyla.

​

2) Synthesis of chemical biology tools to investigate probes that inhibit the biosynthesis of bacterial virulence factors and small molecules. 

​

3) Investigating the mechanistic enzymology of industrially relevant enzymes to develop efficient biocatalytic approaches for synthesizing value-added and pharmacologically significant compounds through protein engineering efforts.
